Random trip to Montauk, the eastern tip of Long Island about 3 hours away from NYC.
For some time Montauk was used as an Army, Navy, Coast Guard and Air Force base. During World War II the United States Navy bought most of the east end, including Montauk Manor, to turn it into a military base.
The Montauk Point Light was the first lighthouse in New York state and is the fourth oldest active lighthouse in the United States.
The next day the entire Montauk was covered in snow.
