This was my fourth trip to Hana, small town on the most Eastern part of Maui. This time 3 day camping trip with the "dudes". Equipped with tents, lots of food, gas camp fire, surf boards, cameras and lots of other things, we hit the road on January 1, after quite a celebration the night before.
The road to Hana by itself is a pure joy and something absolutely worth doing if on Maui. The road itself along the North shore is only 52 miles, but takes more than 2-3 hours. The Hana Highway has 620 curves and 59 bridges. The road goes through flourishing rainforests, flowing waterfalls, plunging pools and dramatic seascapes. The road greets us quite well:
I will never get tired driving and taking photos of Piilani Highway. The roadgoes through Southern coast of Maui connecting Kula on one end of Haleakala volcano and Hana on the other end. It's one of the most picturesque drives I've ever experienced.
Here's the video time lapse from trip to Hana from 2012.
More photos to come! But if you search for "Hawaii" in this blog, there are tons of photos here from my previous trips.
